Hyrum Craig Butcher

Hyrum Craig Butcher has arrived. He was born February 27, 2008 at 2:34pm weighing 7lbs 13oz and 21 inches long. I was induced that morning and by 1:30 I was pushing and after one hour he was out! It was great! Got the epidural at 11am and that was wonderful. We came home this afternoon and we are loving him. I don't have any pictures saved quite yet of right when he was born but here are some we've taken the last 48 hrs. I'm sure I'll post more soon as we get them!

Clarification

I have been asked to clarify for all that view this website that Ben's dad ended up not having a heart attack. We are very grateful for this news. It sounds like his passing out/throwing up episode was the result of a vagal response (nursing people will know this) from heart burn. He came home yesterday after passing all of his tests. The cardiologist apparantly is not worried about his low heart rate (although I'm still a little unsure about that conclusion) so he has been cleared for take off! Sorry to cause so many rumors! I didn't know so many people checked this!

I'm not computer smart!

Okay, so this is a lame question but everyone has the capability to link to other people's websites on their blog and I can't figure out how to do it! Can anyone explain this to me?

On another note, Ben's dad is still in the hospital. They were about to send him home yesterday when I asked the doctor about some heart rate drops (bradycardia) that he has been having the last few nights while he was sleeping. The doctor was completely clueless about the episodes and came back and said he needed to stay another night and have more tests done. Makes me not real confident in the nurse/doctor communication. I guess I'm so spoiled in the NICU that we work so closely with the docs. Ben's dad wasn't very happy with me bringing the issue up as he wants to get home soon. But, better safe than sorry.

Last, there is a poll going on how big this baby of mine is going to be, how long, and what time he will be born. I'm getting induced at 7:00am on Wednesday morning. Anyone have any guesses? I am guessing 6lb 12oz, 21 inches, 3:33pm. Ben thinks 7lbs 3oz, 21 inches, 4:43pm. My mom, Nathan, Dallas, and Grammy & Poppy all have guesses too but I can't remember them all. My mom has them written down. We don't know the prize yet for the winner though but we'll keep you posted.

I can't believe I will be a mommy in 2 days! Scary! Ben has been really cute lately and is really excited for Hyrum to come. He says now that we aren't waiting anymore he can be really excited! ??? Anyway hope everyone has a good week and we'll keep you posted!

Busy weekend!

Today was an exciting day but not with the baby. We found out this morning that Ben's dad had a heart attack on Friday. He is doing well and recovering in the hospital. He is anxious to get home. It is our ward conference tomorrow and he is really sad to not be giving his talk (ha ha) (he is Bishop). Please keep him in your prayers!

We have a date!

Okay, so nothing exciting has happened yet....we are still waiting for Hyrum to come. I had my 39wk check up today and we are making progress. We are still 90% effaced and 2-3cm dilated!! Yeah! The doctor stripped my membranes so we'll see if anything exciting happens. If not, February 27th they will be inducing me!! My mom comes in the night before which works out perfectly! So, in 6 days we will be parents if he doesn't decide to come before then! Tomorrow is my last day of work which I am also really excited about. It has been hard to work these last couple of weeks so I am looking forward to the break. I finally got Ben to pack his bags for the hospital so I think we are all set! Hopefully we will have a healthy happy baby boy next week! We'll keep you posted!
